In partnership with South Tyneside Council and Dogger Bank Wind Farm, welcome to Climate Action Heroes

Dogger Bank Wind Farm is in the process of becoming the world’s largest offshore wind farm. It will be capable of powering 6 million British homes. The project will generate a vast source of renewable energy, harnessing the power of wind to provide sustainable energy and reducing the use of fossil fuels.

Key Stages 1 - 3 are invited to take on the invention challenge created for their age groups, focusing on climate change and how it affects all life on Earth. The challenge will encourage children to expand their skills in STEM learning and broadened their knowledge of sustainable living.

The children will get creative and innovate in their ideas, learning how their contributions could develop technology and improve the environment in years to come.

Diversity

In 2025 students across South Tyneside took part in our Making Waves challenge: Inventing for a better ocean. Over 1000 awesome invention ideas were submitted to help protect our ocean, with 4 being brought to life!

In 2023 and 2024 years 4 and 5 across South Tyneside took part in our Powering the Future challenge. Ten ideas were brought to life by an expert team of makers and showcased at an exhibition at The Word between July and November 2023.

We have created a wonderful documentary to showcase the activity and impact of the first year of this challenge project. It's a lovely watch, please take a few minutes to enjoy.
